The Patient Experience

Transform Your Health with Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine Consultation is at the core of what we do at Newbridge Health & Wellness – simply put, it is the pathway for healing our patients.

Functional Medicine “Consultation” is actually a multi-step process by which a functional medicine provider works in partnership with the patient over a series of consultations to guide them toward optimal health. The principles of functional medicine are applied during this entire process. Over the course of weeks and months, the provider and patient establish care, identify the health issues at play, build a roadmap for treatment, and together take the steps to work toward recovering health.

Each consultation builds upon the previous one and brings the patient one step closer to optimal health. Along the way, the provider takes numerous action steps to get to the root cause of the patient’s illness and symptoms, and to create a powerful action plan to support physical, mental, and spiritual healing. Feedback to the provider from the patient is critical along the way and gives the provider even more information on what the patient needs and how treatment is helping.

Choosing Your Provider

Ready to make an appointment, but don’t know which provider you would like to see? Schedule a complimentary appointment with our Intake Coordinator, who will assess your needs and goals, and match you with the right functional medicine provider. Already know who you want to schedule with? Request your appointment online from our scheduling page.

Before Your First Visit

Our process begins before you even arrive! Prior to your first visit, we will ask you to complete a comprehensive health questionnaire. This will give our providers your detailed medical history and your goals as a patient.

Your First Functional Medicine Consultation

Led by your Functional Medicine provider, this will be a deep dive into your medical history, symptoms, lifestyle, diet, and other factors – like genetics and nutritional deficiencies – related to your health. Your provider will work like a medical detective to untangle your illness and symptoms, identify the root cause(s) of your condition(s), order specialized lab panels to assist in proper diagnoses, make additional diagnoses (if applicable), and overall gain a clearer picture of what is going on inside your body.

Starting Your Plan

You’ll leave your first consultation with a personalized plan including nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, supplement recommendations, prescriptions (if needed), lab orders, and options for interventional treatments and therapies.

Follow-Up Consultations

Follow-up appointments are critical check-ins that help you and your provider to review your progress. 4-6 weeks after your first appointment, you and your provider will meet again to discuss your protocol and to make adjustments as needed.  A plan will also be made for future follow-up appointments. The frequency and timing of visits will be determined based on your unique needs and in support of optimizing your progress.

Maintenance & Well-Being

Our goal is to help restore your health and minimize the need for visits as time goes on. But, health isn’t always a straight line, and maintaining positive outcomes sometimes requires adjustments to the plan. This is why Newbridge is here for our patients for the long haul. The number of visits needed once significant improvements have been achieved varies by patient, and your provider will work with you to determine the best plan. To make it easy, we offer several appointment options including in-person, by phone or via Charmhealth.
